Understanding the Source of Health Anxiety

My friends, if you haven’t already subscribed to the Anxiety Guy YouTube channel, please do and hit the bell for all the notifications for all my videos. Many people out there are falling into the trap of being highly sensitized to their bodily sensations and misinterpreting them as physical illnesses, therefore living a life of survival. Not a life of creativity. Today, we’re delving into health anxiety, and before we explore the five rules to heal health anxiety, let’s establish a crucial understanding.

Trauma’s Path: From Mind to Body

When a situation, trauma, or event occurs, it’s essential to grasp where that trauma’s information goes. Contrary to common belief, the information from a traumatic experience doesn’t reside in the mind; it goes to the body. This information, embedded in the body, triggers warnings through sensations and symptoms whenever the body senses something in the external environment that may resemble a past trauma. If you consistently respond with fight or flight, you perpetuate the belief that the situation or an imagined future one is a threat, demanding ongoing alerts through symptoms. This misinterpretation leads us to believe that our bodies control our minds, when, in fact, it should be the other way around.

Now, let’s delve into the first rule to address health anxiety.

1. Allow Thinking to Override Frantic Awareness

The Importance of Mindfulness

The first rule comes down to allow thinking to override frantic awareness. Now, I’m going to look back on mindfulness. I’ve spent my years living with health anxiety, and I had this sense of frantically being aware of what my bodily sensations were doing.

Breaking Free from the Cycle

And many times when they weren’t even present, the very thing my conscious mind wanted, to be free from the sensations and symptoms, I panicked again. I was addicted to suffering. I was addicted to trauma. I was addicted to drama. And so I found it. Either I found it through my sensations, or I found it through my external reality. But I found some way to suffer. And health anxiety is just another way to continue to build the idea that, hey, this life is full of suffering.

Embracing Creative Thinking

So we need to understand how important it is to start learning how to think. Rather than continue to remember. If we continue to remember, we’re simply acting on what we did yesterday. So it’s the same thoughts again and again and again. And we never take the time to be creative in our thinking processes. We never take the time to be flexible in how we think about our sensations or even dying.

2. Create the Future, Not Fearful Illusions

Confronting Daily Challenges

The second rule is to create the future, rather than allow your fearful illusions to create it for you. Every single day a health anxiety sufferer wakes up, they succumb. They succumb to their fears. And when they think about their future, they believe it’s going to be similar to their traumatic past. They believe it’s going to be similar to their sensitized state in the present moment.

Empowering Conscious Creation

But instead of falling victim to these fearful illusions and these lies, we need to understand how important it is for you to consciously get into a place where you are creating your future. And you can create that future. And it starts with awareness and it starts with the decision to create it. My friends, I didn’t get here by accident. I didn’t get to a place of inner peace and being able to go to the beach and be able to speak to people. And it didn’t happen by accident. It happened through awareness and my ability to become aware of the things that I wasn’t aware of.

Embracing Awareness for Change

that’s what I want you to do. I want you to become aware of things that you haven’t been aware of in the present. So that we can do something about it. You don’t have to live by the same ideas of yesterday when it comes to your sensations or your future. You can be unique again. You can be creative and you can be childlike again.

3. Focus on Cooperation, Not Elimination

Understanding the Purpose of Symptoms

Rule number three is to focus on cooperation rather than the elimination of your symptoms. When I think about cooperation, when I think about cooperation with these symptoms that are bothering us, I think about what messages these symptoms are trying to tell me. It’s the symptoms that are connected to the subconscious mind and body.

The Conscious Mind’s Role

It’s the conscious mind that recognizes these symptoms and has an option to either resolve something from the past. Discontinue the labels from our past. So the symptoms are there as a message and the conscious mind goes, oh, this is a threat. It’s not a threat. Rarely do we go through our day having a truck drive at us at a hundred miles an hour and we’re a deer in the headlights. That is a rare situation.

Breaking Free from Constant Stress

So there’s no need to be caught up in fight or flight all day long. You can go into it for a brief moment, but you don’t have to stay in it. That’s the key. So we come from a place of cooperation. The subconscious says, “Hey, is it time to resolve this? Hey, are we still going to be angry at this person from the past? Hey, are you continuing to carry around the guilt from what you did in the past?”

The Unity of Body and Mind

Your physical body. It’s a representation of your emotional body. So now it’s your mental body that must come in between this reaction. So warriors, start cooperating, start gaining the messages from these symptoms, and stop becoming a victim because of them.

4. Interpret Symptoms as Uncomfortable, Not Life-Threatening

A Turning Point in Recovery

The fourth rule is to practice interpreting your symptoms as being uncomfortable. This. This was a turning point in my health anxiety recovery. My friends, someone told me, “Hey, what if you saw them for what they are uncomfortable?” So I checked in and I began as I always used to, to touch my body all day long. Is this there? Is this here? How do I feel right now? And creating these catastrophic future situations. And. Okay.

Transforming Perceptions

I realized that my God, I’ve turned a fly into a monster. These symptoms are uncomfortable at best. They’re not life-threatening. There’s no physical structural issue in my body. These are warning signs. These are signals. These are messages from the subconscious body and that’s all they are. What’s the message?

The Power of Interpretation

So. I realized that I could begin interpreting these sensations as being uncomfortable rather than succumb to what my survival Ness was trying to tell me, “Oh my God, go to the doctor or Oh God, don’t go to the doctor because they may find something.” And that’s sort of fight or flight or freeze response can move into other aspects. And I realized that even though a surprised individual doesn’t want to, they’re still really pushing the cart until they can come up with other options for fear that maybe… and that’s kind of too sweet. And that’s great. I how. In this world. Rather, I… Of course. I guess I won’t buy this. Okay.

5. Stop Forcing, Start Trusting

Understanding Healing Dynamics

The fifth rule is to stop forcing, start trusting. And what I mean by forcing your healing is to not do a meditation and expect to feel better instantly. It’s not to get a six, eight-hour sleep and wake up and hope your symptoms and sensations aren’t there. It’s to do a breathing exercise and then hope everything disappears. No, no, no.

Recognizing the Role of Time

These traumas, these emotions have compounded over time, but there is an intelligence within you called the super conscious mind that can heal you of these misinterpretations and these symptoms, and it can bring healing to your body if you allow it. Key words, if you allow it.

Embracing Trust over Force

In order for us to allow it, we have to stop fighting and we have to stop forcing. So warrior, stop forcing. Come from a place of trust. Come from that place where you know, not think, not maybe this will be the result, but know that your healing is on the way. This is so much more than just anxiety. This goes far beyond anxiety. This is about transformation. This is about lifting yourself. This is about self-respect. This is about connection. This is about purpose. And you’re on your way to finding that purpose, but you must trust.

A Shift in Perspective

I’m going to leave you with these words, very important. I’ll speak directly to you. The fear of death is the heartbeat of health anxiety. Instead of fearing death, be introverted, interested by it, even curious, and watch what starts to happen in your life. I love you from the bottom of my heart, always do.
