10 Do’s and dont’s of Health Anxiety

Number one is I need you to leave all anxiety-related forums and support groups. Leave them all. All of them. And when you leave them all, I want you to go ahead and look deeper into each and every one of them.

Ask yourself the following questions:

  • Is this Healthy?
  • Is this helping me?
  • Or is it just leading to me coping with something that I truly want to get rid of?

It’s very important that you understand that there’s a difference between healing and coping.

Coping means keeping around. So if you want to cope with your health anxiety, you want to keep around the suffering. No, no, no. That’s not what we do here. We heal. In order to heal, we have to go beyond anxiety. We have to go beyond health anxiety. We have to go beyond symptoms and effects, and we have to focus on root causes.

So leave all forums and support groups. Then take a deeper look into each and every one of them and ask yourself, is this helping me? Or is it hurting me in the long run?

2. Distrust Your Instincts

Number two is distrust your instincts. You must trust. Begin to do this today. You must distrust your instincts. The world is safer than it seems to a health anxiety sufferer. This is the truth. And when your instincts show up and they have an idea behind them, you must understand that they are your instincts. They are neither your intelligence or your intuition. They are your instincts. And we mustn’t allow our instincts to run our lives. This is key. We must. We must see the separation between instincts, conscious thinking, and intuitive wisdom.

3. Deny Overthinking

Number three is we must deny overthinking. Overthinking drains a human being. Overthinking leads more so to more questions rather than answers. So when we find ourselves overthinking something, we must understand, we must understand the repercussions to that overthinking. Overthinking is a comfort zone for many. They are comfortable within overthinking because they feel like they are accomplishing something when in fact they’re getting nowhere. It’s stagnancy. It’s suppression. It’s looking to prevent the worst thing from happening. Overthinking and replaying the same ideas each and every day. Many times we think that we’re thinking when in fact we’re just replaying. We’re just replaying the same ideas. This isn’t thinking. So we must deny overthinking when it arises.

4. Trust Creativity

Number four is we must trust creativity. I need you to slowly get back to you. And what I mean by getting back to you is I need you to get back in touch with who you truly are. You are humorous. You are fun. You are carefree. You are light. You are lighthearted. You take yourself lightly, not so seriously. You take life lightly and not so seriously. And you are creative. You are a painter. You are a dancer. You are a singer. You are all these things. So go ahead and get back in touch with your creativity and trust in creativity.

5. Trust in Change

Number five is trust in change. This is so important because we have to associate good things to change rather than unconsciously associate bad things to change. Our inner child many times when presented with change deems it as being a threat, something that could go wrong. But the truth is that nothing can go wrong with change. You can only thrive. You can only grow. You can only move towards new experiences. And trust me, there’s nothing wrong with moving towards new experiences. So associate good things to change.

6. Trust Your Body to Heal Itself

Number six is trust your body to heal itself. Trust in a body, a physical body, that is more intelligent than your own mind. I bet you haven’t heard this before. The body has its own unique intelligence. But when the mind is stuck within overthinking, that intelligence begins to fade away. But when we trust in this body, we are in fact creating a new relationship with the body. For years now, your relationship with your body has been toxic. It hasn’t been pleasant. You’ve hated your body. Every single time a symptom occurs, you hate it rather than looking to understand it more deeply. So we must trust in our bodies to heal itself.

7. Focus on Disinterest Over Your Fears

Number seven is focus on disinterest over your fears. Stop focusing so much on eliminating things and focus more so on disinterest. Our job is to progressively become more disinterested in what it is we fear. Therefore, we will be brought towards a more so neutral place. And when we are in that neutral place, we can make our own decisions. This is so, so key.

8. End the Inner Catastrophic Storytelling

Number eight is end the inner catastrophic storytelling. They’re just stories, my friends. And if we tell ourselves a story enough times with enough emotion, we will begin to turn that into a belief. We don’t want that. So when you tell yourself a story that’s connected to generalizations or mind reading other people or thinking that you’re going to come in contact with the worst possible scenario in the future, understand that it’s nothing more than a story. And we can see beyond these stories.

9. Eliminate the Need for Quick Fixes

Number nine is eliminate the need for quick fixes. Okay. No more quick fixes because they lead to quick frustrations and more anxiety. The more you look for things to take away your anxiety disorder in one go, the more frustrated you’re

10. Look to Be Guided

Number 10 is look to be guided more than looking to guide yourself. I want you starting today to open your heart up to nature, to a guide that can provide you with insights when needed. Many times when we come in contact with this idea of being guided, by an external intelligence, we don’t like it because it doesn’t fit with what our parents believe. But let me tell you something. There’s going to be a lot of differences between you and your parents as you move forward, and you must accept those differences. It doesn’t mean you don’t love them. It just means that you are becoming your own unique self. They loved you. They guided you. They did the best they could for you. And now it’s time for you to take that information and to work with it. Not to succumb to it, but to work with it.

Conclusion: Embrace the Journey

Warriors, these 10 things are very, very important in the healing journey over health anxiety. I want you to go ahead and jot down two or three of them that you can begin doing today. Because of course, doing all 10 of them can be overwhelming. But I need you to take some action starting today. So focus on two or three of them, put them on a piece of paper, and act on them starting today. Because I promise you, if you do this with emotion, with intention, with dedication and relentlessness, you will become more than anxiety very, very soon.
