The Truths
Today, I want to delve into three things that health anxiety really is. Often, we hold beliefs about health anxiety that may not align with the truth. We tend to agree with our emotions and feelings, struggling to see beyond our sensations, fears, and doubts.
Throughout the day, we experience glimpses of freedom and inner peace, only to be disrupted by another internal or external trigger. I grappled with these symptoms and sensations until I ceased fighting, forcing, and began understanding the barriers hindering my health anxiety healing.
1. Health Anxiety: A Result of Unconditional Love for Life
The first truth is that health anxiety is a result of unconditional and extreme love for life. Contrary to the common belief that the fear of dying is the main cause, it’s a byproduct of love transforming into fear.
2. Health Anxiety: A Lack of Trust in Ourselves and Life
The second truth is that health anxiety is a lack of trust in ourselves and in life. We start believing we are in physical danger due to symptoms. Even when assured of physical health, disbelief persists as a part of us clings to the familiarity of distrust and suffering.
3. Health Anxiety: Sensitivity Manifested from Past Experiences
The third truth is that health anxiety is sensitivity manifested from past experiences. It is not a starting point; irrational fears compound over time. Health anxiety serves a role entrenched in control, perfectionism, and a need for certainty. It’s a bundle of patterns, not a persona.
It’s time to break free from the familiarity of fear, expanding your perspectives, and acting on new ideas until you create new beliefs. Step out of your comfort zones, taking your fears and sensations with you like walking a dog, but never feeding the dog. This is the key to natural and non-forceful healing.
